What getting paid online costs

You connect your own Stripe account and Stripe pays you directly. On the free plan the rate is all-in. On the paid plan you pay Stripe and nothing else.

$

Computed with the product's own fee function. Stripe's fees are its published US rates.

    $29.30

On the free plan the rate is all-in: Stripe's fee is included in the 5% or 1%, not added on top. On very small charges Stripe's fixed 30¢ can exceed the rate, and then Evenbooks keeps nothing. Non-standard Stripe fees (international cards, currency conversion, disputes) are passed through.

Bank feeds use SimpleFIN Bridge, an independent service you subscribe to directly for about $1.50 a month. Evenbooks earns nothing from it.

Questions

Is this really double-entry bookkeeping?
Yes. Every invoice, payment, purchase and bank transaction becomes a balanced journal entry you can inspect. Posted entries are immutable; corrections are reversals. The trial balance is zero by construction.
Who is it for?
Sole proprietors and small companies in the United States that want real books without an accounting department. It is single-currency (USD) and the online payments run on Stripe’s US platform.
What does “all-in” mean on the free plan?
You pay one rate on an online payment, 5% on cards or 1% on bank transfers, and Stripe’s own fee is inside it. Evenbooks keeps the difference. On very small charges Stripe’s fixed fee can exceed the rate, and then we keep nothing.
Why is the paid plan so cheap?
Because bookkeeping software should not cost more than the coffee it tracks. $15 a month covers our costs for a company with a team; payments on the paid plan cost you only what Stripe charges.
Can I move from Wave, QuickBooks or a spreadsheet?
Import bank statements as CSV, enter opening balances as of a date, and continue from there. There is no one-click migration of historical invoices yet.
Can I self-host?
Yes. The code is source-available under the Elastic License 2.0: run it for your own company for free, forever. You may not resell hosted access to it. Community support only.
Who is behind it?
Evenbooks is built and run by a small, independent team in the United States. There are no investors and no plans to sell your data or your attention.
